Consider the alternatives...
Not everyone needs to buy a SlipAlert to prevent slip accidents. You should be keeping your floors safe and to do that some of your floors may need to be tested. You can use any Pendulum correlated test device: i.e. Pendulum (as supplied by Wessex engineering or Munro Group), or SlipAlert. You could do your own testing or hire a professional service from an slip or H&S consultant or Health and Safety Adviser. If you decide to test yourself, you could buy from just £50 per month or lease. You may wish to try SlipAlert for 2 months or you may wish to hire it by the week as and when you need one.
More Alternatives...
There are many other slip testing products in the world. Some, like the German ramp ( a test where a man in boots stands on a oily ramp and the ramp is elevated till the operator slips) are designed for use in lab conditions. Some "trolley" devices don't accurately measure dynamic slip resistance. Most cannot accurately detect slip resistance in the wet (condition where most slips occur). We only know of 2 products that consistently and accurately measure slip resistance... The TRL Pendulum and SlipAlert. Click here for details of SlipAlert competition.

Decisions Decisions...
Should I buy, lease or use a professional service? That will depend on how often you need to test your floors. The first step may be to conduct a risk assessment of your floors and decide which floors are very safe and which need testing and how often. Floors that are treated should be tested periodically. Floors that are changed should be tested before and after the changes, and floors prone to slips should be tested regularly to ensure your cleaning is keeping the floor safe.
Ask your H&S Adviser for the best way to keep your floors safe.
