Cleaning and slip risk are tightly linked.
Three layer model and cleaning
If you measure the clean dry slip risk and the clean wet slip risk of your floors you will begin to appreciate the big difference that can exist between a clean dry floor and a wet or contaminated floor. if you measure the slip risk before and after cleaning you will begin to appreciate the importance of good cleaning. if the floor attracts normal shoe dirt through the day it may present a higher risk, if it gets oil or grease and water then it will almost certainly present a far higher risk. Different situations make different demands upon the new floor that you require
When you specify or buy a new floor, you want the right type of flooring that is safe. A pool surround must be safe when wet and it must be easy to clean to prevent a build up of body fats. A sports hall will mainly be dry but you will need a floor that is safe with trainers, bare feet and possibly socks, and you will need a floor that stays reasonably safe if there is dust or water on the floor.
